The first idea for the animated shortfilm Fairlights came up after the nuklear disaster in Japan triggerred a great discussion about the lifetime extension of nuclear plants in Germany. To state our concerns about the further use of nuclear energy we decided to do a shortfilm that shows its alarming dangers, without pointing a finger at specific persons or politics.

We wanted the people to see behind the curtain or in our case behind the power outlet and think for themselves. Nuclear energy seems cheap and clean, but there is a huge price to pay if you take a closer look. We wanted to invite people to accompany a little girl on its journey from the surface of a glittering funfair to the small alleys behind the scenes that lead her to the truth that lies beneath.
