Great News!
After a successful tour across USA in 2024 and after the selection of the International Uranium Film Festival (IUFF) as one of the “25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World 2024” by the prestigious MovieMaker Magazine in Hollywood, the IUFF founders, Márcia Gomes de Oliveira and Norbert Suchanek, are now honored with the 2025 Nuclear-Free Future Award (Education). / Photo by Luccas Leen
The Nuclear-Free Future Awards will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at The Great Hall at Cooper Union in New York City. A reception at 6pm will be followed by the awards ceremony starting at 7pm. Free admission and open to the public. Media are welcome. The event - a co-presentation of Beyond Nuclear and International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, Germany, an affiliate of the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize-winning organization IPPNW - takes place during the Third Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons March 3-7 at the United Nations.
The Nuclear-Free Future Awards (NFFA) were founded by German journalist, filmmaker and activist, Claus Biegert, in 1998 and were first held in Salzburg, Austria. Since then, the Awards have traveled the world, honoring the largely unsung heroes of the Nuclear Age who work to end uranium mining and rid the world of nuclear weapons, nuclear power and uranium munitions.
„The 2025 NFFA is a great honor for us and an obligation to continue what we started in 2010. Independent nuclear awareness through film. Creating this critical film festival was a challenge against many adversities. We were running against the wind. It was above all the filmmakers and film producers from so many countries who believed in us, submitted their films and often traveled to our festival in Rio, Berlin or Window Rock at their own expense and who gave us the strength to continue. The Award shows the importance of our Uranium Film Festival, especially this year, which marks the 80th anniversary of the first nuclear bomb explosion in New Mexico and the subsequent nuclear annihilation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. No more Hibakusha!“ Márcia & Norbert

Bernie Finkelstein, Producer, Film director, Canada
Congratulations again. You are now beginning to reap the rewards of so many years of hard work and effort with the IUFF.
I insist that these awards are the logical and fair consequence of having organized more than thirty editions of the festival
in different countries. You are unique in the world in exposing the risks and lies of the civil and military nuclear industries
and this deserves public recognition. Um abraço de Almeria.
José Herrera Plaza, Filmmaker, Spain
