Nuclear & Atomic Films Wanted!
The 10th International Uranium Film Festival of Rio de Janeiro is now accepting submissions. Works in all genres, forms, and lengths are considered. The festival will take place from May 21 to May 31, 2020, in Rio de Janeiro, Modern Art Museum Cinematheque (MAM) and from October 15th to 18th in Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg.
Deadline for the film entry: January 1st, 2020
The International Uranium Film Festival is dedicated to all fiction and nonfiction films about nuclear power and the risks of radioactivity: from uranium mining to nuclear waste, from atomic war to nuclear accidents, from Hiroshima to Fukushima.
For that the festival accepts all submissions of films dealing with anything nuclear and radioactive: films on nuclear science, films on atomic bomb tests, nuclear accidents, nuclear science, the use of radioactivity in industry and food production, the use of depleted uranium in weapons, films on uranium mining or radioactive mining waste, films on nuclear scientists like Marie Curie or Julius Robert Oppenheimer, ...
It is not mandatory that the movies are new productions. They could have been produced at any time.
The festival is competitive and awards are offered in the following categories: „Best Feature Fiction Film“, „Best Short Fiction Film“, „ Best Animation“, ‘Best Feature Documentary“, ‘Best Short Documentary, „ Best Animation“, „Special Recognition“.
The International Uranium Film Festival was born in Rio de Janeiro in 2010/11 and became soon the "Atomic Cannes" with exhibitions also in other countries. Uranium Film Festivals have been already held in seven countries and over 40 cities: from Rio to New York, Los Angeles, New Delhi and Berlin.
