The 13th International Uranium Film Festival (IUFF) Rio de Janeiro 2024 has given its festival trophies and awards at Rio de Janeiro's Modern Art Museum (MAM Rio) Cinematheque on Saturday, first of June 2024. Over the course of a week, 22 “atomic" films from 16 countries were shown in the cinema of renowned MAM Rio which was chosen by the Brazilian government to host the G20 summit later this year. The awards and honorable mentions of this unique film festival also known as the Atomic Age Cinema Fest were given to productions and directors from USA, Canada, Japan, India, Chile and Germany.

Academy Award nominated documentary filmmakers Mark Mori and Susan J. Robinson at the International Uranium Film Festival in Rio. Together with restauration producer Kirsten Larvick they received the festival’s trophy for the excellent restaurated version of their Academy Award nominated film „Building Bombs“.

"With the increasing risk of nuclear war and feverish pitches for more nuclear power, without having resolved the reactor safety and waste disposal issues, the 13th International Uranium Film Festival is performing a monumental service to mankind by bringing attention to important films that explore these issues. The festival has given a new life to our film and it's very important in helping spread the word and build a new movement", said Mark Mori, academy award nominated director of "Building Bombs"

"The International Uranium Film Festival is an international treasure. There's no other festival like it. The dialogue about nuclear issues, and the young people who attended the festival and contributed important ideas, gives hope for finding future solutions", said academy award nominated director Susan J. Robinson in her award statement.

Emmy award-winning Producer/Writer/Director Joe Tripician with the trophy of the International Uranium Film Festival. His film „Honeymoon in Oak Ridge“ received the Best Short Documentary Jury Award in Rio. Photo shows Joe with his family and Susan J. Robinson.

"The film festival directors have shown outstanding commitment, dedication, and support to filmmakers and their films. Being part of the International Uranium Film Festival has been both gratifying and inspiring. It is a unique experience not to be missed, whether you're a filmmaker or a film lover. I give enormous thanks and gratitude to Norbert, Márcia and their entire staff and crew, and wish them continued success", stated  "Honeymoon in Oak Ridge“ director & producer Joe Tripician who had received in 1992 an Emmy Award for his documentary "Metaphoria".

Tripician's daughter Helena who takes part in "Honeymoon in Oak Ridge" added to the young audience at MAM Rio: "If you have a voice, use it, use it wherever you can talk to your friends, talk to your family, talk to whoever you might have at it on social media. It's just important to keep bringing awareness to whatever the issue is currently and continue to - because without awareness you can't do anything.“
