Nuclear devastation in "paradise" - Uranium film festival in Sardinia
In the year of the 80th anniversary of the explosion of the first atomic bomb in New Mexico and the subsequent nuclear destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the International Uranium Film Festival (IUFF) will be held for the first time in Italy and will raising awareness of another dangerous nuclear and toxic problem: depleted uranium weapons!
From August 25 to 28, 2025 the IUFF will present in Sardinia at the Greenwich theater in Quarto the world's largest showcase of films on the use and consequences of uranium munitions at the Greenwich Theater in Quarto, Sardinia, accompanied by panel discussions with scientists, activists, and victims of the depleted uranium issue.
For the tourism industry, the islands of Sardinia in the Mediterranean and Hawaii in the nuclear test site area of the Pacific are synonymous with paradise. However, the US military, arms manufacturers and NATO have been using them for years as a "battlefield" to test weaponry, among them depleted uranium (DU) weapons, with terrible consequences for the environment, the local population and the next generations. Other lovely islands such as Puerto Rico are similarly affected.
For this reason, the IUFF, together with its partner organizations ICBUW (International Coalition to Ban Uranium Weapons) and Veterans for Peace, is planning special uranium film festivals at "paradise" islands starting with Sardinia. It will be the largest film show on the environmental consequences of depleted uranium weapons on battlefields such as Iraq and the Balkans and firing ranges such as Salto di Quirra in Sardinia. DU weapons should be totally banned just like nuclear weapons.

However, to realize this ambitious program, more partners, sponsors and donations are needed. Help us for a world without nuclear and uranium weapons. We appreciate every donation as well as cooperation offers!
